With the start of the academic year, the first few weeks in September typically consist of
(e.g. scheduling conflicts, problems due to unexpectedly high or low inflow figures, last-minute changes)
- Compiling various overviews for various purposes, meetings and people
(e.g. inflow figures of all programmes; number of participants for courses with student assistants; final prognosis of student assistants per course)
- Administrative actions, processing updates or clean-up of e-mail aliases or groups
(e.g. compile overview of course coordinators, lecturers and PhDs assisting with courses; process last-minute changes in OSIRIS; update OSIRIS student groups used by student advisors; link correct exam programme to new students; register first-year and premaster students for Tutor course; register all active students for Reflection and Orientation; update assessor and Education Board e-mail alias with new assessor names).
- Starting up various meeting cycles (e.g. Education Board)
In addition, the start of the new year is usually accompanied by quite a few questions from course coordinators or lecturers in relation to their courses, schedule, student assistants (prognosis) or other matters, so a fair amount of e-mails are also to be expected. However, the general gist of the first few weeks of the year is: don't panic, even in case of unexpected issues or last-minute changes: in the end, everything usually turns out fine (and solutions can usually be found in collaboration with others).
