Regular Events:
- Education Day (Intree dag): welcome to new BSc students; typically late August.
- Open Days (Open dagen): information days for our BSc programme; typically on Friday evening and Saturday in November and on Saturday in March.
- coordinator tasks:
- make sure there is atleast one Bachelor Programme poster in the corridor
- Bachelor Thesis Market (BTM): information meeting for our Bsa students about the bachelor thesis; typically in quarter 4.
- in collaboration with course coordinator Research Methods
- agree on suitable data for BTM and inform students
- in collaboration with Thalia (contact: extern@thalia.nu)
- recruit companies
- send invitations to students
- book room and meet-up space, arrange notice boards and tables
- coordinator tasks:
- contact research department representatives to talk about bachelor thesis projects
- recruit student to share experience
- collect research notices from supervisors
- send invitations to staff and students
- Bachelor degree ceremonies (diploma uitreiking): ceremony in which candidates receive their well-earned bachelor diploma; typically in November and June.
- coordinator tasks:
- receive candidate list from Education Office (they ask Thalia board for representatives)
- ask supervisors of bachelor thesis of candidates to prepare personal laudatio for their candidate(s) and check attendance
- chair the ceremony
- Teacher's Day (Docentendag): annual meet-up of all computing science teachers
- coordinator tasks:
- provide update on current study year, present plans for upcoming study year
- What's next information meeting for first year students: meet-up to explain 2nd and 3rd year program; typically in May or June
- coordinator tasks:
- invite study advisors to attend
- recruit students to share experience with the specializations (Cyber Security, Software Science, Data Science)
- book room and date
- announce to first year students to attend
- upload material to Brightspace:Reflection & Vocational Orientation
- Minor and Free Electives information meeting for all bachelor students: meet-up to explain possible minor programmes, studying abroad, free electives; typically in May or June
- coordinator tasks:
- invite study advisors to attend
- recruit students to share experience with their choice of minor
- book room and date
- announce to bachelor students to attend
- upload material to Brightspace:Reflection & Vocational Orientation
Tasks:
- coordinate current developments, e.g. generative AI, digital testing, international students, student welfare, collaborative learning, the missing semester, rubrics, women in CS; continuously
- write OER; annually, typically during November - April
- supported by Science Education Center (they provide time line, instructions, documents)
- coordinator tasks:
- receive and provide feedback on general section of OER
- receive and update new format OER for upcoming study year
- update and add transition rules for previous study year
- ask programme committee and exam board for feedback, collect, and update
- create and publish bachelor curriculum overview poster (hang a copy on the common space on the ground floor of Mercator I); annually
- create and publish specialization road maps for students; annually
- coordinate double degree Wiskunde & Computing Science; annually
- coordinate course series (leerlijnen) with course coordinators; typically every 2 years
- member BAC and UTQ committees, as education board representative; ad hoc
- maintain Guidelines for Teachers document; annually
- keep track of education innovation via Education Innovator
- computing science education visitation and accreditation; every 6 years
- in close collaboration with Science Education Center
- together with CoordinatorOfTheMScCSprogramme
- coordinator tasks:
- collect data and write Self Evaluation Report (SER) on bachelor programme
- inform computing science teaching staff about SER
- participate in site visit
- collect feedback, write response, finalize accreditation from programme part
