The BSA committee requires about half a day of work in July and about 1.5 days of work in August, and less than half a day of work in the full rest of the year. Each year, I discuss with one of the study advisors in July the students that will get a negative BSA. I usually do this with Dianne, who does a great job preparing. If students clearly had severe personal circumstances that negatively impact their study results beyond their fault (as referred to in Article 2.1 of the WHW 2008 (https://wetten.overheid.nl/BWBR0006152/2026-01-01), then we give them an deferred BSA instead of a negative BSA (they have to get the full 60 credits of the first year in the following year). Students will get an official letter based on that meeting. They can appeal to the committee in before half August. Each year just before or on the introduction day, students that appeal have to appear before the committee to appeal. The committee (consisting of four professors) decides during the meeting.
